Calling Nottingham Plumbing & Heating Services

Who will I speak to when I call?

You’ll speak directly to me, Mark. There isn’t a call centre or office passing your details on to somebody else.

What information will you need?

I will ask a few questions about the problem, what you can see or hear, and when it started. This can help me understand what may be happening before I visit.

Can you give me advice over the phone?

Yes. If there is a simple and safe check you can make yourself, I will try to help you over the phone first. If the problem needs investigating, we can then arrange a visit.

How do I contact you?

Call me directly on 07795 350018.

Boiler Repair Questions

My boiler has stopped working. What should I do?

Give me a call and tell me what is happening. If there is a fault code on the boiler display, make a note of it as this can be useful when we speak.

My boiler keeps losing pressure. Can you help?

Yes. If the pressure repeatedly falls, there may be a problem with the boiler or heating system that needs investigating.

Does a broken boiler always need replacing?

No. Many boiler faults can be repaired. If repairing your existing boiler is a sensible and economical option, I will tell you rather than automatically recommending a replacement.

Can you help if I have no heating or hot water?

Yes. Call me and describe what the boiler and heating system are doing. You can also read my Boiler Repairs page.

Boiler Servicing Questions

How often should I have my boiler serviced?

Annual servicing is generally a sensible way to keep your boiler checked and maintained. You should also follow any servicing requirements that apply to your boiler or warranty.

What happens during a boiler service?

I check the boiler’s condition, operation and relevant safety aspects. The exact checks depend on the appliance and what is required for that boiler.

What happens if you find a fault during the service?

I’ll explain what I’ve found and discuss what needs doing. Finding a problem during a service doesn’t automatically mean the boiler needs replacing.

For more information, see my Boiler Servicing page.

New Boiler Questions

How do I know when my boiler needs replacing?

Age alone doesn’t necessarily mean a boiler must be replaced. Its condition, reliability, repair costs and availability of parts should all be considered.

Which type of boiler should I choose?

That depends on your home, existing heating system, water supply and hot-water requirements. Combi, system and regular boilers each suit different circumstances.

Is a combi boiler always best?

No. Combi boilers are suitable for many homes, but they aren’t automatically the best option for every property.

Can you help me choose the right boiler?

Yes. I’ll look at what your home needs and explain the suitable options. You can also read my Which Boiler Is Right for Me? guide.

Central Heating & Radiator Questions

Why is one radiator cold?

There are several possible causes, including air, a valve problem or a circulation issue. The cause needs identifying before deciding on the repair.

Can you replace radiators?

Yes. I can replace radiators where required and discuss what is suitable for your existing heating system.

All my radiators are cold. Is the boiler broken?

Possibly, but not necessarily. The problem could involve the boiler, controls, circulation or another part of the heating system.

See my Central Heating & Radiators page for more information.

Plumbing Questions

Do you carry out general plumbing repairs?

Yes. I carry out a range of general plumbing repairs including leaks, taps, toilets, pipework and heating-related plumbing work.

What should I do if I have a water leak?

If you know how to safely isolate the affected water supply, doing so may help limit the damage. Keep water away from electrical equipment and call me for advice.

Can you repair a leaking toilet?

Yes. Call me and tell me what the toilet is doing and where you can see water, if possible.

You can find more information on my Plumbing Services page.

Where Do You Work?

I’m based in Carlton in the NG4 area and normally work within approximately 12 miles of my base, covering Nottingham and many surrounding areas.
